Home care

Reliable, compassionate and person-centred support with washing, dressing, medication, meals and moving safely around your own home — from a single morning call to four visits a day.

At Nationwide Care Services we provide reliable, compassionate and person-centred home care designed around each individual’s needs. The aim is simple: to help people live safely, comfortably and independently in their own homes, and to give families the peace of mind that comes with knowing someone reliable is turning up.

Every customer is different, which is why we take the time to understand your needs, your preferences and your daily routines before anything is agreed. Our experienced care team provides respectful support that promotes dignity, independence and choice — helping with the parts of the day that have become difficult, and leaving the rest of the day alone.

Home care is where most of our packages begin. A carer arrives at an agreed time, does what the plan says needs doing, and goes. That distinction matters: the aim is not to take over a household, it is to remove the two or three obstacles that were making independence impossible.

Wherever the rota allows, you see the same small group of carers. They learn how you like your tea, which shoulder is stiff, and that Thursday is bin day. Every visit is recorded on a digital care plan that family members can be given access to, so nobody has to ring round to find out whether Mum has eaten.

What this includes

  • Washing, bathing, showering and support with personal hygiene
  • Dressing, grooming and oral care, done at your pace rather than ours
  • Continence and catheter care, handled discreetly and with dignity
  • Medication assistance, so it is taken safely and exactly as prescribed
  • Preparing meals and support with eating, drinking and staying hydrated
  • Individual dietary requirements followed, whether medical, cultural or personal
  • Help with moving around the home, transfers and everyday activities
  • Support to get up in the morning and to settle safely at night
  • Light household tasks around the visit, so the home stays yours

Who it tends to suit

  • Someone home from hospital who needs help for a few weeks while they find their feet again
  • A parent whose mobility has changed and who is no longer managing the stairs, the bath or the kitchen
  • People with long-term conditions who want to stay safely and comfortably in their own home
  • Anyone who needs a hand with washing, dressing, medication or meals but does not want to give up their routine
  • Families already providing care who need regular visits to share the load

How it works

  1. We start by getting to know you

A coordinator visits at home, usually within 48 hours, and takes the time to understand your needs, your preferences and your daily routines — not just a list of tasks. It is often less than families expect.

  2. A care plan written around you

You approve the plan, the visit times and the level of support before anything begins, and your family can be involved as much or as little as you would like.

  3. A small, familiar care team

Wherever the rota allows, the same small group of carers, a named coordinator, and an out-of-hours number answered by care staff rather than an answering service.

  4. Reviewed as needs change

Visits step up or step back without you starting again with a new provider, and every call is recorded on a digital care plan family can be given access to.

Common questions

What is the shortest visit you offer?

Thirty minutes. We are honest that a 15-minute call rarely delivers good personal care with any dignity attached, so we do not sell them as a way of looking cheaper.

Will it be the same carer every time?

The same small group, in almost all cases — that continuity is what makes personal care bearable. Holidays and sickness happen, but you will be told in advance when someone different is coming.

Can you help with medication?

Yes. Carers are trained and competency-checked to prompt or administer medication and to make sure it is taken safely and as prescribed, recorded on an electronic MAR chart your GP and pharmacy can be shown.

Can you follow a particular diet?

Yes. Dietary requirements — medical, cultural or simply preference — are written into the care plan, from diabetic and soft-textured diets through to food prepared the way you would prepare it yourself.

Will I lose my independence?

The opposite is the intention. Carers support the parts of the day that have become difficult and encourage you to keep doing what you can for yourself; dignity, independence and choice are what the plan is built to protect.

How quickly can care start?

Most packages start within a few days of the assessment, and sooner where someone is coming out of hospital. If we cannot cover a package properly from your local branch, we will say so rather than start it and let it slip.

Free assessment. No obligation.

We will tell you what is genuinely needed, even when that is less than you asked for.
